Another nine people injured in passenger van crash.

At least 10 people burned to death and nine others were injured when a passenger van overturned and caught fire in Sindh province, officials said Monday.

The accident took place overnight in the southern town of Noori Abad. “At least 10 people were killed in the accident, seven bodies were burnt so badly that they could not be identified,” said senior police official Naeem Shaikh. “Three women, two children and four men were wounded, while, three passengers remained unharmed.”

The van was overloaded and veered off the road after suffering a burst tyre, he said.

Pakistan has an appalling record of fatal traffic accidents due to poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and reckless driving. Last month 62 people including women and children were killed in southern Pakistan when their bus collided with an oil tanker, starting a fierce blaze which left victims burnt beyond recognition.
