The Taliban have claimed responsibility for rocket attack targeting police vehicle.

A rocket struck a police vehicle in Balochistan province on Thursday killing four policemen, officials said.

The incident took place near the remote town of Musa Khel. “Four policemen, including the local police station chief were martyred in the rocket attack on their vehicle,” said senior district official Hashim Fuwad Rabbani.

Akbar Hussain Durrani, the top bureaucrat of the provincial home department, confirmed the casualties and said that paramilitary forces have been sent into the area to hunt the attackers.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement issued to media. The militants have stepped up retaliatory attacks on security forces since the government launched an operation to drive them out of the tribal areas in the country’s northwest.
