Two officers and three civilians killed in suicide attack.

At least two officials were killed and three civilians injured after a patrol vehicle was attacked in the Fateh Jang area of Attock on Wednesday.

Earlier, military officials had said that one official had been killed in the attack. “The security forces vehicle was on routine patrol when it was attacked in Fateh Jang, killing one and injuring another two,” a military official told Newsweek on condition of anonymity. “Apparently it looks like a suicide attack,” he added. “The suspected suicide bomber was on foot.”

According to ISPR, Lt. Col. Zahir Shah and Lt. Col. Arshad were killed in the attack. The incident occurred near a railway track and local sources have claimed that the vehicle was targeted because it is often used by intelligence agencies.

Police officials said the death toll included a rickshaw driver that was passing by the area at the time.

Law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the area and started investigation. Thus far no one has claimed responsibility for the attack although the Taliban often target security officials.
