Unidentified militants from Afghanistan attacked house of local anti-Taliban militia leader.
At least four people were killed and two others injured after unidentified militants from Afghanistan stormed the house of an anti-Taliban militia leader in Upper Dir on Friday night.
“Around 10-15 militants entered the house and opened fire on the family,” said the senior police of the Barawal police station. “One of the injured is a woman,” he added. Another police official confirmed the incident.
“Taliban militants from Afghanistan stormed the house of Nazmeen Khan, chief of a local anti-Taliban militia, in the late hours of Friday night and killed him along with his two sons and a nephew,” local police official Gul Fazil Khan told AFP.
According to the police, the local militia and the Army retaliated and killed two of the attackers, but the rest fled back to Afghanistan. A senior official said a search operation was still underway.
